HALF-HEARTED
(To
him) Jesus said, “No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what
was left behind is fit for the kingdom of God.” – Luke 9: 62
In the movie, Remember the Titans, onemember
was holding back on his efforts, which caused his team to lose a game.
His reason was that he was “looking out for himself.” For that, the
coach booted him out the team.
I
once coached a ragtag grade school football team. Every time they took
to the field, you could see that they gave their all. Despite the
formidable opponents we faced, no matter how many goals the opponents
scored, those kids played their hearts out like there was no tomorrow.
God
calls us to live life to the full and to live wholly for Him. We cannot
be Christians during Sundays only. We can’t make Fridays an exception
for slandering or drunkenness. We can’t be good only whenever we like
and be bad when we want to.
We
should read the Bible regularly and avoid lewd and gossip magazines. We
should pray daily and move away from the “when I can” mentality.
Be kind, show love, do good. Often and much. Do all these. With all your heart. With everything that you’ve got. For God. Jun Asis (mabuting.balita@gmail.com)

REFLECTION:
Reflect on what it means for you to love God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind.
Dear Jesus, grant me the grace not to hold back in my decision to follow You. I pour out everything I am in loving You. Amen.
St. Mother of Theodora Guérin, pray for us.
