A Delightful Meal

 

“Give us this day our daily bread…” – Luke 11:3

 

We knew it was going to be a unique meal — by appointment only and served only during lunch. A formulated fruit juice and a wonderfully appetizing squash soup came first. That seemed regular enough. But when the lady brought what looked like a flower arrangement, placed it on our plates and said it was the salad, we all thought she was kidding. Then she told us that we should eat the flower salad by hand. Wow!

What followed was the most delightful meal we had ever had in our lives. We feasted on flowers! We wrapped them with freshly picked leaves of lettuce, lola rosa, arugula and a dressing that made our mouth water. But if such a meal was served daily, just maybe, we would not have enjoyed and been as delighted.

Like manna in the desert, God serves us a buffet of blessings every day. But oftentimes we don’t thank Him enough because we either grow weary or we take for granted the blessings we receive.

Being forever grateful makes our hearts enjoy and delight in His goodness always. Gratitude makes our hearts eager to savor the goodness of the Lord at every moment. Donna España (donna.espana@yahoo.com)
