Grace That Keeps

He saved us and called us to a holy life, not according to our works but according to his own design and the grace bestowed on us. – 2 Timothy 1:9

Before Jing met the Lord, he would “close down” the strip bars in their city. Booze and women were a regular part of his life. One day, deep in debt and depressed because he couldn’t buy simple Christmas food for his children, he tried to kill himself.
Just as he was about to hang himself, his cellphone rang and the call was an answer to prayer — a much needed financial blessing that came just in the nick of time.
Today this same man leads, serves and gives of himself to the Lord and his Catholic community, leading others to the Lord.
In spite of his weakness, Jing accepted God’s grace — grace that prevented him from killing himself, grace that led him to live a new life, and grace to continue in the life of good works.
You may not have tried to kill yourself. You might not have been buried in debt. You might have lived a regular and boring life. Still grace has accompanied you and accompanies you.
May we all gratefully embrace God’s grace, an undeserved favor that we need. Joy Sosoban (jsosoban@gmail.com)

REFLECTION:
“My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

I accept Your grace, Lord. Let me live a holy life.

St. Norbert, bishop,pray for us.
