ENJOY HIS PRESENCE
“But only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” – Luke 10:42
One
day our kids and their cousins saw experienced skaters performing in
the ice skating rink. They got interested and wanted to try it out
themselves.
They unanimously looked at us and cried out, “We want to skate!” We
gave in to their request and bought tickets. This was despite the fact
that most of us parents had either minimal or even zero experience in
ice skating.
Our troubles began the moment we entered the rink. My brother slid and fell on his butt. My daughter lost her balance, pulled my arm, then we both ended up on the floor. The two other cousins bumped into a stranger and dropped to the icy floor. My
wife accidently bumped my son and they both fell down.
My son ended up with a small cut in his elbow. After an hour of
skating, we exchanged stories and laughter. We didn’t mind the countless
times we fell or the pain we felt. Everyone was happy and wanted to try
it out again.
Our Christian life is also filled with a lot of trials. These concerns can sometimes overwhelm and discourage us. But instead of dwelling too much on the pain, why not focus on the presence of Jesus in the midst of the difficulties? That will surely bring out the joy of the moment. Reflection: Let’s enjoy God’s presence instead of dwelling on the problem.
Holy Spirit, continue to encourage me as I face the trials in my life. Amen.
Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us.
