UNDER HIS UMBRELLA
“That they may know I am with you, as I was with Moses.” – Joshua 3:7
“Oh no….” I looked outside the chapel to see the sudden
downpour. A few minutes ago, the midday sun was shining bright — a
reason for me not to bring my umbrella. Now, just 15 minutes later, I was about to be drenched. But what choice did I have?
I had to return to work after the noontime Mass. Not one of my friends working nearby had replied to my urgent text message to borrow an umbrella. As the priest gave the final blessing, I prayed, “Lord, You have saved me from the worst. Surely, You can save me from the rain.”
“Ate Osy...” I turned to see my friend Charisse. “Great! Did you receive my text message?” I asked her. “Um, no. Do you have an umbrella?” she asked. My tears flowed. God heard my prayer.
I believe that moment was a miracle—a miracle of providence and a proof of God’s presence.
In every crisis—whether as big as battling cancer or as small as
getting soaked under the rain — God is with us. He hears our every cry
and works for our good. We just have to continue believing. Osy Erica (osy.erica@gmail.com)
Reflection:
Have you lost trust in God that He will pull you through? Believe that
if He has brought you to it, He will see you through it.
Father, forgive me for the times I have lost trust in You. Strengthen my heart when I feel abandoned.
St. Pontian, pope, and Hippolytus, priest, martyrs, pray for us.
