CHANGE THE
CHANNEL
And he was transfigured before them. – Mark 9:2
Imagine a teenager complaining about what’s on television. He says, “Oh, this is a terrible show. I hate it. I just don’t like the actors. It’s so boring. Ugh… I hate this show!”
So his mother tells her son, “Hey, stop complaining. Just change the channel!”
“I can’t,” he says, “the remote control is busted.” She looks at him like he is an alien specimen. She says, “Well, how about walking to the TV and changing the channel?”
“Oh, that’s just too much work!” he replies.
Friends, if you don’t like what you’re seeing in your life, don’t suffer through it. Pick yourself up from the couch, walk to the TV set of life, and change the channel.
Here’s what I realized about life: We don’t have a remote control in our hand. We have to stand up, walk and change the channel of what’s happening in our life.
Asking is not enough. Agreeing is not enough. We need to act! But we need to act according to our asking and agreeing. This is what I call “living the empowered life.”
Are you ready to stand up and change the channel in your life? Be transfigured!Bo Sanchez (bosanchez@kerygmafamily.com)
Reflection: In what area of your life do you need transformation? What steps could you take to make the transformation possible?
Change me, Lord, and mold Me according to Your design for my life.
St. David of Wales, bishop, pray for us.
