FRUITS YOU BEAR
“But
as for the seed that fell on rich soil, they are the ones who, when
they have heard the word, embrace it with a generous and good heart, and
bear fruit through perseverance” – Luke 8:15
Fr.
Gabriele Amorth, Vatican’s chief exorcist, tells the story of a
religious man who played “spirit of the glass” without realizing it was a
sin. After this, he started to become clairvoyant and was even given
the ability to take away pain. But he continued to be impatient. People
feared his words. He was prone to anger and he didn’t see any spiritual
fruit in himself.
It
was when he entered the Charismatic Renewal that he discovered his sin.
He confessed it and requested others to pray over him. He has now found
healing.
The
questions this man asked are important to us, too. What fruits do I
bear for God’s Kingdom? Perhaps some areas of our lives are better off
than others. But remember, the weakest areas can easily bring us down.
More
than the Sower, the soil or the seed, the most important thing about
today’s Gospel story is the miracle that happens when God calls us and
works in our lives that we may bear fruit. We thank Him for this miracle
and for making this possible. Rod Velez (rod.velez@gmail.com)
REFLECTION:
What are the fruits of your Christian life?
Lord,
I pray for the person who sowed Your Word in my life. May You always
bless this person. And Father, I thank You for allowing that seed to
grow. I lift up to You every area of my life and pray for healing. May I
bear fruit, Lord, for Your greater honor and glory.
St. Lawrence Ruiz and Companions, pray for us.
