HOW DEAF IS YOUR LOVE?
At this, the man’s ears were opened… – Mark 7:35
Some people can hear but don’t listen. They are spiritually deaf. They hear God’s voice but they don’t act on it so another layer of hardness comes over their heart.
Take this Filipino actor-turned-politician who has 86 children, all born from different women! Do you think he’ll ever understand the Christian parenting seminar being taught weekly in the parish church right across the street where he lives? Or how about the tax collection officer who daily rakes in from “under the table”? Will he ever understand the “Be Honest” sermon of the sensational miracle-working priest in the monthly healing Mass in their office?
Those who have gone spiritually deaf have heard the message of Jesus’ love most often. That might be you. You may know the Scripture verses and the worship songs. You’ve attended retreats, listened in prayer meetings, you may even be serving the Lord. But you and Jesus know that He is not the Lord of all of your life. And you know full well that “if Jesus is not the Lord of all, He is not Lord at all.”
Jesus is healing your deafness today. He can and He’s always willing. Don’t miss it this time. Jon Escoto (faithatworkjon@gmail.com)

REFLECTION:
What is Jesus saying to you about areas of your life that you’ve not fully surrendered to Him?
Jesus, as You speak to me today, give me the silence to listen and the courage to respond.
St. Peter Claver, priest, pray for us.
