DAWN COMES
Who indeed is the victor over the world but one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? – 1 John 5:5
Last year, my brother, who lives in the US, had a terrible accident. He
was cycling with his usual Sunday group when his front tire hit the
bike in front of him. He hit the pavement, with two other bikers behind
crashing on him. He was evacuated by a chopper to the best trauma center
in the area.
I’ve never cried so hard and prayed so hard in my life. But even as I
plead for the Lord to grant him a speedy recovery, I’ve begun to see
the good that is coming from this tragic event.
Our family has united to pray for him. Members of the clan who were not
normally prayerful have begun to pray. I’m also growing in my faith,
learning to trust the Lord like a child for something we have absolutely
no control over.
These days we’re in a cloud of uncertainty, hoping to see clearly what
lies ahead for my brother but not able to know despite the best
prognosis of medical experts. But our eyes of faith see a glorious
future as we look beyond the clouds and focus on His glorious power. We
will overcome because the God we believe in is a mighty God. Rissa Singson Kawpeng (justbreatherissa@gmail.com)
Reflection:
“Sometimes our faith can only grow when we can’t see. So sometimes He
comes in the clouds.” (From “Sometimes He Comes in the Clouds by Steven
Curtis Chapman)
Lord, You who created every cell in our body can also recreate every damaged one. We trust You to heal our loved ones. Amen.
St. Adrian of Canterbury, pray for us.
