Memorial of St. Francis of Assisi
THE TEST
“We have neither heeded the voice of the Lord... nor followed the precepts which the Lord set before us.” – Baruch 1:18
I’d like to ask you to make an interactive reflection today by taking this test. Look at the directions one at a time (no peeking at the conclusion).
1. Get a sheet of blank white paper.
2. Write your name at the top.
3. Read all the directions first.
4. Think of the important things in your life (family, health, work, service, etc.) and draw a pretty heart for each.
5. Fold the paper in half. Fold again.
6. Draw 12 evenly spaced dots (4 across, 3 down) on the folded paper.
7. Connect the dots to make squares.
8. Punch a hole in the middle of each square.
9. Ignore directions 5 to 8.
This
is an obedience test. What does your paper look like now? Is it
unblemished with just your name and the hearts on it or is it full of
holes?
The blank paper is like our soul. When we follow God’s commandments,
we’ll be able to return it to Him in a beautiful state. When we fail to
obey, our life is tarnished — peppered with ugly sins. Lella M. Santiago (mirellasantiago@yahoo.com)
Reflection: How well do you listen to God and follow His instructions?
Forgive me, Lord, for the times I turned a deaf ear to Your commandments.
St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us.
