SUPERIOR WAYS
We do not cease praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of God’s will. – Colossians 1:9
They
were scheduled to move back to the Philippines after having acquired
their citizenship abroad. But a few months before their return, their
young boy was diagnosed with cancer. It was heartbreaking news for the
family.
Everyone rallied in prayer for his healing. The blessing behind all the
sad news was that their new country of citizenship provided free
healthcare that would afford them the best treatment that science could
offer.
Oftentimes when tragedy hits, we can’t help but question why God allows
bad things to happen to us. It’s so easy to focus on the negative, to
doubt His presence in our lives, to forget that there is always a bigger
picture.
But adversity also brings out the best in us, if we let it.
When we choose to find the silver lining behind the cloud,
we allow God to reveal to us the supremacy of His wisdom. We gain new
insight as well as a deeper knowledge of His character. Our faith is
strengthened. We emerge from the experience with lessons we will benefit from for the rest of our lives.
In the end, we are wiser, stronger, more placid in the face of affliction. Rissa Singson-Kawpeng (justbreatherissa@gmail.com)
