VICTORY IN
SURRENDER
By
faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice.
Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so... he did
receive Isaac back from death. – Hebrews 11:17, 19
When
the Israelites first fled Egypt under the direction of Moses, they
brought everyone and everything with them. They also brought with them a
hope that they would never have to return to a life of bondage and
slavery. But along their journey to the Promised Land, many challenges
happened that led them to question God and His plans. Consequently, many
of them didn’t enter the Promised Land.
I believe that it was their lack of complete surrender that was their
downfall — that even though their physical bodies left Egypt, the
presence of Egypt never left their hearts.
We still have our own versions of Egypt today— bad habits, a
temptation, an addiction or a situation that enslaves us and keeps us
from moving forward.
Whatever our Egypt is, we must surrender and expose it to God’s light
if we want to genuinely exterminate it. Surrender is genuine, voluntary
and wholehearted. May you find victory in surrender today! Audee Villaraza (avillaraza@gmail.com)
Reflection:
Trust in the Lord and surrender all the areas of your life, known and
unknown. Offer it to Him like Abraham, who boldly offered Isaac as a sacrifice.
I want to learn how to trust You completely, Lord. Bring me opportunities where I can grow more in faith and trust.
Holy Family, pray for us.
