TRANSFORMING THE CHAMP
“I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete.” – John 15:11
“What an indescribable joy.... If I had died two years ago, I would have definitely gone to hell.”
These are excerpts from the interview of boxing champ and Congressman Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao.
Pacman
revealed to the reporter that while training for a fight in 2011, he
diligently attended Bible study classes upon the prodding of his wife.
As he learned more about God’s Word, he developed an intimate
relationship with the Lord. He dropped his vices of gambling, drinking,
nightly partying and womanizing and has since felt happier and at peace
in life. As he ended the interview, he invited his fans to have hope, to
turn to the Lord and be transformed like him.
In
God’s perfect time, God worked on the conversion of Pacman. At the peak
of his career and in a position of great influence, his testimony of
what it is like to be back in God’s fold serves as a good call.
When
Pacman endorses a product, his fans buy it. Now that he has endorsed an
abundant life in Christ guided by His Word, let’s follow in the champ’s
footsteps and enjoy what God has to offer. Marie Franco (mariefranco_pie@yahoo.com)
Reflection: “Whoever accepts and trusts the Son gets in on everything, life complete and forever!” (John 3:36)
Take me back, my Lord, and fill my heart with Your promise of everlasting joy.
