THE WEIRD SEED
He said, “Go away. The girl is not dead but asleep.” But they laughed at him. – Matthew 9:24
National Geographic reports of an astonishing find in the place where the Inca tribespeople used to settle. The Aztecs designed a very simple contraption made from natural materials that is so airtight, it has vacuum-sealed a handful of seeds that still remain fresh after 1,200 years.
Scientists planted the seeds to test if they are as perfectly preserved as they appear. The seeds grew! After many, many years of being hidden and forgotten, the power of life within these seeds had not diminished.
Have your dreams been as dead as the ruler’s daughter in today’s Gospel? Have you abandoned hope longer than the bleeding woman has given up on hers? Jesus visits your life today and declares, “However long have you waited, however dead your dream looks, My love and power is never diminished. I can still make real the dream you lost because of your past sins. I can still heal. Your family can still be restored. I can still bring that person you’ve been waiting for in your life. Do you have a dream that you’ve given up on, but it still continues to resurrect as a prayer of your heart?
Jesus, as You visit my life today, give me faith in Your power and love. Let me believe that the seed of the dream lives. Give me the courage to pray and work for it again, starting today.
