THE GOD YOU WORSHip

“But who do you say that I am?” – Mark 8: 29

The God whom you worship... becomes you.
That’s why it’s important for Jesus to ask, “Who do you say I am?”
Because God can have as many different faces and forms to as many people there are.
He can be an angry and punishing God who is quick to smite.
He can be a genie from a bottle whom you call to whenever you’re in need. He can be a distant God who doesn’t care.
He can be a God who dictates everything from what you think or wear.
Or He can be Your Messiah — a loving and merciful Savior.
Because again, chances are, whatever the image of your God is, that’s how you will relate to Him and to others.
You can be judgmental, pleasing, indifferent or dictatorial.
Or you can be a loving disciple of the One you follow.

REFLECTION:
How has your image of God changed? How has it changed you?

Loving Father, I receive Your unconditional, immeasurable, overflowing love today, and I am ready to love others this way. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Sts. Cornelius, pope, and Cyprian, bishop, martyrs, pray for us.
