KNOWN AND LOVED
Put on the new self, which is being renewed, for knowledge, in the image of its creator. – Colossians 3:10
I used to give in to many negative thoughts. I felt insecure and
thought I was not good enough. This was before I got to know the Lord.
As I started getting to know Jesus through the Bible and prayer, He
changed the way I looked at myself. He died for me even while I was a
sinner. Bought with His blood, He made me worthy, valuable and deeply
loved. His love helped me give up my old ways of thinking and, with His
grace, the sins and fears that gripped me.
Slowly, He renewed my mind. I realized I was being restored to my
original beauty, in the image and likeness of my Maker (Genesis 1:26).
Like David, I could proclaim and truly believe that I am wonderfully
made (Psalm 139:14). As I got to experience His love for me, I realized
that I was fully known — all my strengths and weaknesses — and yet fully
accepted, fully loved. The more I got to know the Lord, the more I got
to know myself.
This new self in Christ is our truest self. Let us stand on our true
identity as sons and daughters of God. We are perfectly loved. Marjorie Ann Duterte (marjorie.travels@gmail.com)
Reflection:
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things
have passed away; behold, new things have come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Lord, we long to know You more, and in knowing You, to love You more.
St. Peter Claver, priest, pray for us.
