A ROYAL VISIT
... and great crowds assembled. – Luke 5:15
There was no way Archbishop Angel N. Lagdameo, who was flying in
from Jaro, Iloilo, could make it to the CBCP headquarters in Intramuros
from the airport. It was the Feast of Señor Jesus Nazareno of Quiapo
and roads around the Roxas Boulevard area were blocked. The police
estimated a crowd of eight to nine million at the annual procession that
would last for 18 hours.
The major traffic problem in Manila turned out to be a blessing for our family in trouble-free Pasig. We extended an invitation for His Grace to stay in our home, away from the traffic congestion — an offer that he gladly accepted.
The excitement over the visit by a prince of the church was hard to
contain. We left nothing to chance. The room of our US-based son was
transformed into an instant royal suite. A spirit of unexplainable peace
and tranquility permeated our home. It was grace from Jesus Nazareno of
Quiapo.
Our home would never be the same again. In the same way, we are never
the same again when we welcome Jesus in our hearts. Mari Sison-Garcia (mari_sison_garcia@yahoo.com)
Reflection: We believe in the Son of God when we honor His faithful servants.
Lord,
as we start the New Year 2014, purify us and teach us how to obey and
love our Church leaders who testify that You are the Son of God.
St. Gregory of Nyssa, pray for us.
