THE FAITH THAT MOVES MOUNTAINS

“If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” – Matthew 17:20

Maria Domenica Brun Barbantini, the foundress of the Camillian Sisters, was in a dilemma. Should she watch over the terminally ill Sr. Marta or accompany her sister who needed emotional support? She prayed to the Blessed Mother for enlightenment. She also prayed that Sr. Marta’s health be restored. She felt as if she heard Our Lady tell her, “Go…may it happen as you requested.”
Maria Domenica left the convent with much tranquility. She spent the night with her sister, sharing in her sorrow. When Maria
Domenica went back to the convent the next morning, she was greeted by an overwhelmed doorkeeper who announced, “What a miracle! Sr. Marta is perfectly cured.”
In today’s Gospel, the disciples were unable to drive out the demon because of their lack of faith. According to a Bible footnote, “it is the power of God, not our faith, that moves mountains, but faith must be present to do so.”
Are you facing a problem that seems as big and immovable as a mountain? Turn your gaze from the mountain and look to Christ for more faith. Judith Concepcion (svp_jmc@yahoo.com)

REFLECTION:
What you focus on grows. Do you focus more on your problem or on Christ who can help you solve your problem?

Increase my faith, Lord. Help me to realize that You are bigger than my problem.

St. Clare, virgin, pray for us.
