THE FATHER’S
MADNESS
... while God patiently waited... – 1 Peter 3:20
“It was worth it. I got what I wanted and it’s all that matters.” It was baffling to watch this woman in the news on a Black Friday sale, a huge shopping event in the US. She came to the store early morning, braved the cold weather and waited in line for hours so she could get what she thought was a great deal — a $2-towel! This and many other crazy stories were on the news that day. We call it the Black Friday madness.
It’s unthinkable how far people would go to get what they want. But it’s even more inconceivable to know how much God is willing to do to save us. His love for us didn’t stop at Christ’s death on the cross; it also manifested in His infinite patience. God, in all His power and might, can easily punish us every time we fail Him, but He chooses to bear with our weaknesses. With His overflowing compassion and mercy, He waits patiently for us to reconcile with Him. And no matter how many times we drift apart, He welcomes us back with so much love. Reflection: Each day is a chance to repent. Let us not make God wait much longer. It’s time to be reconciled with the Father.
Thank You, Lord, for bearing with my sinfulness. May Your love be my constant strength to overcome wickedness. Amen.
St. Margaret of Cortona, pray for us.
