The Lord can use the worst of sinners for His holy purposes - Daily Bible Reflections September 27,2014

CALLED, CONVERTED,
BLESSED

May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands. – Psalm 90:17

Ages ago, there was a man who turned to the priesthood as a sure way of uplifting his family from poverty. As a young priest, he was luxurious and ambitious.
One day, the bishop assigned him to a poor community. He excused himself, but to no avail. Left with no choice, he thought of a system to raise funds. He tapped his connections and started helping out. He was moved by the generosity he received and the kind of life that the community people were living. Dwelling with them changed him. He was convinced that giving was both an act of charity and justice. His endeavors grew fruitful. Realizing the importance of character formation to priests, he instituted what we now know as The Vincentians. To this day, the congregation lives through the example of their founder, St. Vincent de Paul, whose feast we celebrate today.
St. Vincent’s life is a testament that ours is a merciful God — a God who calls us in spite of our past. Whatever we do for God, He will bless. Not because we are guilt-free, but because God is abundant with love. Maymay Salvosa (cmaysalvosa@yahoo.com)

Reflection: The Lord can use the worst of sinners for His holy purposes.

Lord, let Your favor rest on me. Grant success to every endeavor I undertake for Your kingdom.

St. Vincent de Paul, priest, pray for us.
