TO LOVE GOD WITH OUR ALL
“Love and serve the Lord, your God, with all your heart and all your soul....” – Deuteronomy 10:12
To do what the above verse says is a challenge. But over the past 15 years of serving in my Catholic community, I’ve learned a lot about how to apply this verse. Here are five ways we can love and serve God with our whole being:
1. Make Him number 1 in our lives — not our spouses, our children, our parents, our boyfriends (or girlfriends), our pets, etc.
2. Offer up everything in our lives to Him —
our past, present and future; our strengths and weaknesses; our joys
and pains; our deepest, darkest secrets and sins — everything, big and
small!
3. Spend time with Him every day in prayer and Scripture reading. If you love someone, you’d want to be with that person every day, and get to know him better.
4. Tell others about Him. If you love someone, you’d want others to know about him, right?
5. Share His love with others. This is one of the best ways we can show God we love Him — by drawing more people to love Him, too. Tina Santiago-Rodriguez (teachermamatina@gmail.com)
