THE CHOICES WE MAKE

“You denied the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you.” – Acts 3:14

The reading today made me see life as how we live it. We are always given the choice between the good (Jesus) and the bad (Barabbas). Sometimes we choose the bad, and when we see something good happening to someone else, we get envious and ask why it wasn’t us.
The answer to that has already been laid before us.
In physics, Isaac Newton’s Third Law of Motion tells us that to every action, there is always an equal and opposite reaction.
In Buddhism, the Karmic law of cause and effect explains to us that nothing happens to a person that he does not, for some reason or another, deserve.
Best of all, the Bible tells us, “Make no mistake: God is not mocked, for a person will reap only what he sows” (Galatians 6:7).
But St. Peter gives us hope when he said, “Repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be wiped away, and that the Lord may grant you times of refreshment…” (Acts 3:19-20).
Let us learn to choose well. So… is it Jesus? Or Barabbas? Nova Arias (nova.svp@gmail.com)

REFLECTION:
What choices led you to where you are now? Were they good or bad?

Holy and Righteous One, let me see Your goodness every day and protect me from the Deceiver.

St. Teresa of Los Andes, pray for us.
