THE INCONVENIENT TRUTH

They looked for a way to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowd because the people held that he was a prophet. – Matthew 21:46

Taxiing down the tarmac, the 747 abruptly stopped, turned around and returned to the gate. After a two-hour delay, it finally took off. “What was the problem?” Barry, a worried passenger asked the steward.
“The pilot, who happens to be the best plane captain this airline company has ever had, was bothered by a noise he heard in the engine,” explained the flight attendant, “and it took us a while to find a new pilot.”
Would you rather change planes or just take the simpler option of changing the pilot? I don’t know about you, but even if I find a pilot who agrees with what I’d like to believe, it doesn’t make the defective plane any safer. It would still crash into a million flaming pieces in a matter of time.
Jesus didn’t blink when He told the chief priests and Pharisees that something was broken in them. In His love, He wanted to heal and save them from themselves. But truth can be inconvenient. “Eliminate Jesus” was far easier.
Friend, is God speaking an inconvenient truth in your life today? Don’t change the pilot. Let Him heal you.  Jon Escoto (faithatworkjon@gmail.com)

REFLECTION:
The loving God points something in your life that ruins you or slows you down. Listen to Him.

Father, it hurts when I get confronted with the truth, either by Your Word or by someone You use to speak the truth to us. Give me the grace to surrender myself to Your care and grace. Mold me by Your love. Amen.

St. Frances of Rome, religious, pray for us.
