Feast of St. Thomas, Apostle
A PLACE FOR US
You
are no longer sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the holy
ones and members of the household of God… – Ephesians 2:19
I sobbed the first time I watched The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, especially
towards the end of the movie when Lucy, Edmund and Eustace say their
goodbyes to Aslan. One of my favorite lines, spoken by Aslan, goes like
this: “In your world, I have another name. You should know me by it.”
The movie reminded me that our life on earth is temporary; we are not
meant to be here forever. Because we “are fellow citizens with the holy
ones and members of the household of God,” we have so much more to look
forward to — in the next life.
The lyrics of the song, “There’s a Place for Us,” from the Dawn Treader soundtrack,
speak so beautifully of this truth: “There’s a place out there for us,
more than just a prayer or anything you’ve ever dreamed of. So when you
feel like giving up, ‘cause you don’t fit in down here, fear is crashing
in, close your eyes and take my hand....”
We were made for eternity, friend. Aim for heaven! Tina Santiago-Rodriguez (tina@trulyrichmom.com)
Reflection: Do you live each day as if it were your last? Do you “aim for heaven” in everything you do?
Lord, please help me to remember that You have already prepared a “place out there for us” — a place in heaven.
St. Thomas, Apostle, pray for us.
