YOUR STORY WILL CONTINUE
“You are to become the father of a host of nations.” – Genesis 17:4
I’m
turning 30 soon, and about to be a dad for the second time. It’s an
understatement to say that having children has changed me. I feel
reborn, with the opportunity to see the world through fresh eyes as I
live vicariously through their brand new experiences.
My
kids help me look past the struggles of life, the difficulty of earning
a living, the temptation to compare myself with people who are richer
or more successful. Though a child is simple, she says so much to her
parents: there is hope for the future; your story will continue.
At
99 years old, Abraham received an audacious promise from God: a son,
and descendants. Abraham received hope. His story would continue. And
his story foreshadowed what Jesus would accomplish.
Thanks
to Jesus, our story will not end in defeat. The worst could happen in
life, yet if we are in Christ, there is only ultimate victory for us.

Reflection: What areas of your life need fresh hope?
Father, give me the eyes of a child, filled with faith and hope for the future!
Blessed John of Parma, pray for us.
