MORE BLESSED TO GIVE

 

“When you hold a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; blessed indeed will you be.” – Luke 14:13-14

 

My friend Susan loves the poor so much and she is so generous. When we were in college, she was our class president. She would organize outreaches for our class. We went to orphanages, homes for the aged and prison cells.

       When she got married and had a child, we celebrated the first birthday of her daughter, Yannah, my goddaughter, in an orphanage. The kids in the orphanage had so much fun. They ate to their hearts’ content. We helped feed the little ones. They played games. Smiles, laughters, shouts of joy filled the whole place.

       Before we left, the kids serenaded us with some songs and some dance numbers. We went home so blessed.

       There’s truth in the saying, “It’s more blessed to give than to receive.”

       John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son.” God always gives the best. He gave us His Son, Jesus. If we want to be like Him, let’s give the way He gives by giving our best and giving it generously. Meann Tee (meanntytee@yahoo.com)

Father, thank You for all the blessings that we receive from You. Teach us to be generous like You.
